Laddy Redican’s (reel)

I think this is also called the "Forget-me-not".  Any notion of a sieve-for brains like playing a tune with a name like that doesn't seem right somehow so I'll just keep calling it Redican's.

THis is great. I grew up with this music. My grandfather’s name (God rest his soul) is Charlie Redican…I’ve never heard this song…it’s great…

Hi Micheael. Fantastic site. An absolute treasure trove of music and musings! Re this tune, I learned it from an old Vincent Griffin album where it was known as Martin Rochford’s. I think he played it in C Major as it’s easier on the fiddle than in D Major where you have to double-stop on d on the 2nd string and ‘walk’ down the 1st from b to e simultaneously. OK, I’ll shut up, it’s a flute site!) It’s also on your old CD ‘The Far Set’ under a similar name. Knockout tune! Adh Mor Gerry

Sorry, Michael, I omitted the main point of my last post which was the observation that the name ‘Forget-Me-Not’ seems to have been obliterated from all albums that I know of (well, two!) Perhaps ‘Remember-Me-Not’ would be a better title. But I never knew it was one of Larry Redican’s. (PS. I will now get a life)
