The Kesh Jig
May 2nd, 2007 at 1:40 pm (traditional irish flute, irish flute)
A very popular tune - you can probably blame the Bothy Band for that.
As with most popular tunes, it has a good melody and rhythm. That’s probably why it’s popular. If that’s a load of rubbish then it must just be popular courtesy of the Bothy Band. I don’t know whether any of them liked it or were just asked to play it.
I think it’s quite nice.

I’ve always liked this tune. Your playing helped reinforce my own playing and acknowledge that I had it “correct.” Thanks.

I just came across this song and l loved it straight away. I play the flute and was wondering is there any way of getting the notes for this song?

Thanks again, Michael. I’ve seen that this tune is learned and played alot…and now I have the basics on my pennywhistle thanks to you. Of course, we each play it our own way but, the original melody is never lost. The wood of the flute sounds like no other!
